We know from years of research that face-to-face interaction in the early years is the primary way children learn. These early interactions, like sharing books, talking, singing, or playing with children help lay the foundation for early language and literacy – essential skills for success. Professionals working in early childhood development are all too aware of how crucial the years from 0-5 are for the intellectual and emotional development of children. Not nearly enough parents seem to be aware of how crucial these years are. Flit is an app produced by the Centre for Family Literacy that helps families promote a healthy environment that fosters literacy by providing activities and tips for encouraging literacy in their children. Parents will find specially tailored and curated activities ranging from reading, recipes, rhymes and games specifically designed to build strong reading, writing and literacy skills in their child and have FUN doing it!
