About this app

What’s that bumblebee is a great way to engage with and identify the UK’s 8 most common bumblebees. The app uses augmented reality, illustrations, images and species details to create a simple and accessible tool for all ages (Augmented reality is only available on compatible devices). There are 24 species of bumblebee in the UK but the vast majority of the bumblebees you see in a garden or park will be one of the 8 most common bumblebees featured in the app. This educational app is brought to you by the Bumblebee Conservation Trust, a UK charity dedicated to creating a world in which bumblebees are thriving and valued. The app was created with the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund. • Simple guide to help identify bumblebees • Bring a bumblebee into your world, using augmented reality and watch it fly around in your environment • Explore species individually, through illustrations, images, maps and other information • Scale, rotate and walk around 3D bumblebees to explore them in more detail • Compare similar species side by side • Take photographs and share them with your friends and family • Works fully offline Check to see if your device supports augmented reality at https://developers.google.com/ar/discover/supported-devices.
