About this app
History Under the Floorboards is a way to interactively explore the archaeological findings in specific places and features at Historic Fort Snelling at Bdote. Users learn about archaeology by interacting with a 3D model of an excavated building to discover artifacts recovered from different areas. The artifact information includes photos, provides examples of contemporary analogs, and offers interpretation of how historic figures may have used the materials. The discoverable information also suggests what those findings tell us about the changes to the landscape which surround the fort. Designed to be used at the fort, you can also experience it from your own home. Developed by the University of Minnesota in collaboration with the Minnesota Historical Society.
