About this app

ScaleTap is the fastest way to measure construction plans on iPad. Import a PDF, set the scale, and pull takeoff quantities with Apple Pencil — on the jobsite, fully offline. Placing a measurement takes seconds. Now fixing one does too: drag a handle on any measurement and the value updates live as you move it. No tool switching, no fighting the app. MEASURE EVERYTHING ON THE PLAN • Lengths, areas with perimeter, multi-segment runs, counts, angles and arcs, and volumes • Deduct windows, doors, and voids from area measurements for accurate net-area takeoffs • Values appear live as you draw and as you edit • Snap to the drawing itself — endpoints, midpoints, intersections, centers — plus grid snap and orthogonal/45°/15° angle constraints • Numbered count marks grouped into named categories for fast tallying A SCALE YOU CAN TRUST A wrong scale means wrong numbers, so ScaleTap treats scale as a first-class tool: • Calibrate from a known dimension, pick a preset architectural/engineering/metric scale, or trace the printed scale bar • A verify prompt helps you sanity-check a new scale against a known dimension • Different scales on different pages — and scale regions for multi-scale sheets (plan at 1/8" and detail at 1/2" on the same page) EXPORTS YOUR OFFICE CAN USE • CSV and native Excel (XLSX) with groups, subtotals, grand totals, and scale provenance — ready for estimating • Flattened, annotated PDFs that open cleanly in the PDF tools your office already uses • Optional measurement summary report appended to the PDF • XFDF import/export for exchanging annotations with desktop PDF tools • Export the whole document, the current page, only pages with measurements, or a custom range like 1-3, 5, 9 BUILT FOR THE FIELD • Fully offline: no account, no cloud, no signal required • Autosave protects your work — even through a force quit • Pencil draws, finger pans; two-finger undo and three-finger redo work the way you expect • Hardware keyboard shortcuts for Magic Keyboard users • English, German, French, and Japanese, with VoiceOver and Dynamic Type support FREE AND PRO Viewing PDFs, markup (ink, highlights, arrows, shapes, text callouts), and XFDF annotation exchange are free. Measurement tools, calibration, and data/PDF exports are part of ScaleTap Pro — a simple monthly or yearly subscription that auto-renews until cancelled. Your documents always stay yours and always stay readable, subscribed or not. Latest release

What’s New

Version 2.0.3 Aug 13, 2026

• New: Deduct windows, doors, and voids from area measurements so takeoff totals reflect the net area you're pricing. • Fixed a crash that could occur when selecting a unit during calibration. • Flattened PDF exports now preserve page crops correctly, keeping measurements aligned and content outside the crop hidden. • Export totals now split correctly by unit when a document mixes imperial and metric scales, and no longer show a phantom empty entry on documents that mix calibrated and uncalibrated measurements. • Export metadata like “Multiple” and unit precision now shows in your app's language, and reflects only the pages you export instead of the whole document. • XFDF now supports area outlines, polyline lengths, and counts—not just linear measurements. For areas with openings, XFDF carries the net value but cannot preserve the opening geometry. • Add PDFs faster with multi-select import, “Open in ScaleTap” from the Share menu, and drag and drop. Also fixed importing PDFs that are still downloading from iCloud Drive, Dropbox, or Google Drive. Exported PDFs now use readable filenames, with additional reliability improvements throughout.
