About this app

You have a pile of stones. You have a gap to fill. Pick a stone, place it, see if it holds. StoneWright is a meditative dry stone walling simulator. No mortar. No timer. No score. Just the ancient craft of fitting stone to stone until something stands. The pile is your puzzle. Stones vary in shape, size, weight, texture. Rotate them, examine them, set them aside, return to them later. The right stone for the right spot is a feeling, not a calculation. BUILD: • Walls — Learn the grammar: two over one, break the joints, weight over weight • Corners — The wall turns. Tie-stones matter. • Gates — Span a gap without mortar. Master the lintel. • Arches — Temporary support, keystone, release. Will it hold? • Cairns — Vertical balance. Small footprint, increasing height. • Impossible stones — Late game. Eggs. Spheres. Slabs too thin. FAIL: Collapse happens. Stones tumble, scatter, come to rest. You rebuild from the rubble or reset the pile. No lives, no penalties. The wall fell. Now you know something. RETURN: No save prompts. No quit confirmation. Build until you stop. Come back and the wall is waiting—standing or fallen. LISTEN: Stone on stone. Scrape, tap, thunk, settle. Wind. No music during building. The sounds teach you: that click means stable, that grind means trouble. Inspired by Vermont's fieldstone walls—cleared from glacial fields by 19th-century farmers—and Ireland's pastoral sheep boundaries. Aspiring to Andy Goldsworthy's ephemeral artistry. No ads. No data collection. No notifications asking you to come back. The wall is its own reward.
