Squad 9’s Risk Assessment Guide is a professional reference tool designed to support trained practitioners in assessing risk related to a person of concern. This app is intended to be used in conjunction with formal training provided by Squad 9, LLC and is not a standalone training program. The methodology presented in this guide is grounded in three primary foundations: 1. FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit–Informed Training The framework reflects training received by the authors from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU), incorporating contemporary behavioral threat assessment principles used by professionals in the field. 2. FBI Targeted Violence Prevention Research The guide draws upon concepts outlined in the FBI publication Making Prevention a Reality (2015), which documents findings from the FBI’s symposium on targeted violence prevention and represents the combined expertise of multidisciplinary subject-matter experts. 3. Real-World Threat Assessment Experience Content is further informed by the authors’ combined decades of experience conducting threat assessments with the Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) and the Rochester Threat Advisory Committee. This app serves as a structured reference to support decision-making, documentation, and consistency when applying trained threat assessment methodologies. It does not replace professional judgment, agency protocols, or formal instruction.
