About this app
Capt'ns Log is a science-driven fishing advisor and private catch journal. It reads live weather, water, tide, river, and solunar data, scores conditions for the species you actually fish, and learns from the catches you log. Know when to go before you go. WHAT IT DOES • A live condition score for the next 24 hours, and a Pro 7-day hourly timeline you can scrub to find the best windows. • Per-species scoring engines, calibrated from peer-reviewed research and on-the-water data — not a one-size-fits-all "fishing index." • Lure recommendations tuned to your current weather, water temperature, tide phase, pressure trend, and time of day. • Trip Prep: cache everything you need for a planned trip and use the app offline on the water. • A private catch journal — photos, weight, length, lure, location, and the exact conditions you caught it in, captured automatically. • Pattern insights from your own catch history once you have logged enough catches. SPECIES COVERED AT LAUNCH Largemouth Bass · Smallmouth Bass (lake and river) · Trout (rainbow, brown, brook; rainbow in both lake and river modes) · Pacific Halibut · California Halibut · Speckled Trout · Redfish · Striped Bass (coastal and reservoir) · Walleye · Panfish (bluegill, crappie, yellow perch) · Chinook Salmon · Catfish (channel, blue, flathead) · Corbina. Available species depend on your US state. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Your catches, photos, and fishing spots are private to your account. • No social feed, no sharing prompts, no "where everyone is fishing" overlays. • No advertising. No product-analytics SDKs. No tracking across other apps. FREE FOREVER • The full private catch journal: log, edit, and view your catches without limit. • Today's condition score for any covered species, at one saved location. • Auto-captured conditions, photo support, on-device export. CAPT'NS LOG PRO • The full 7-day hourly timeline, with tap-to-preview and scrub. • Lure recommendations matched to current and forecast conditions. • Trip Prep offline caching. • Pattern insights from your own catch history. • Unlimited saved locations. Latest release
What’s New
Setting up Capt'ns Log is now a first fishing trip. Pick your spot and your species, and the app computes your first real conditions score right on the spot: pressure, water temp, moon, and tide, read live for your water. Also in this update: - Water temperature got serious. Real sensor readings where they exist, satellite readings offshore, and calibrated estimates everywhere else. - Chinook salmon run timing is now built in. River salmon scores work without any setup. - Largemouth bass now has a river mode, and lake scoring got a tune-up. - Fixed the species picker popping up every time you opened the app with a saltwater spot. - Sharper timing on tide and forecast data, and better support for larger text sizes.
