About this app

Parked outside? HailScout watches the weather over your vehicle and warns you when hail is heading for it, with the size to expect and how long until it arrives. HailScout is built for one thing: knowing whether hail is coming to the exact spot where your vehicle is parked, so you have time to move it or cover it. HOW IT WORKS 1. Add your vehicle. Tell HailScout what you drive and what you call it. About thirty seconds and you're set. 2. Let it watch for you. HailScout uses your phone's location to pin where you park, then monitors the weather over that exact spot around the clock, even when the app is closed. 3. Get time to react. The moment hail is headed for where you parked, the alert lands on your lock screen with the expected size and how many minutes until it arrives. You don't have to be in the app to get it. KNOW YOUR HAIL RISK • Live risk score: a real-time read on how likely hail is over your vehicle right now, from calm to take action. • Next 24 hours: an hour-by-hour hail outlook so you can decide where to park. • 7-day outlook: spot the days hail is possible before the week arrives. WATCH THE STORM COME TO YOU • Storm-cell tracking: HailScout follows individual hail cells on live radar as they form and move. • Path and ETA: the map draws the cell's likely track to your vehicle and counts down the minutes until it reaches you. • Impact window: see the stretch of time hail is most likely at your location, refined as the storm moves. • Nationwide radar: browse live hail and storm tracks anywhere in the country. ALERTS THAT REACH YOU ANYWHERE • Escalating warnings: a quiet heads-up while a storm is still building, then a loud, high-priority alert when hail is minutes away. • On your lock screen: alerts carry the hail size and ETA and arrive even when the app is closed and your phone is in your pocket. • Home Screen widget: your current risk score and the next four hours of hail chance, one glance away. Tap to open straight to an active alert. CONFIRMED BY DRIVERS NEARBY • Real-time reports: see hail confirmed on the ground by people near you as a storm moves through. • Add your own: a couple of taps to confirm hail and its size where you are, helping everyone around you. HANDS-OFF MONITORING • Saved places: keep an eye on home, work, and anywhere your vehicle regularly sits. • Automatic parking: HailScout notices when you park and starts watching that spot, with no buttons to press. • One-tap logging: record what you did when a storm hit, so you have it for later. BUILT ON DATA YOU CAN TRUST HailScout pairs authoritative U.S. weather data from the National Weather Service with live storm-cell radar and confirmations from drivers in the storm. It works across the United States. No ads, ever. We don't sell your data. iOS 15.1 or later. WHY I BUILT IT My mom's car was totaled by hail. So was a friend's. The weather app warned about severe storms but said nothing about whether hail was actually coming to where the cars were parked. I wanted an app that knew where my vehicle was and told me when hail was on its way. There wasn't one, so I built it. - Sam, Founder FREE TRIAL, THEN SUBSCRIPTION Start with a 7-day free trial.
