About this app

Skales is a local-first AI agent built for everyone, from kids to seniors. Not a chatbot: it uses real tools, remembers what matters, and finishes multi-step work - with your permission at every step. It runs fully standalone on your iPhone or iPad, and can pair with the free Skales desktop app to reach your computer's AI, files and sessions from your phone. No Docker, no terminal, no setup. Install in seconds. FREE TO START Try Skales IQ, free included usage with nothing to buy. Just enter your email, no API key and no password needed. When it runs out, bring your own key for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, OpenRouter and more, and the app keeps working. CHAT WITH ANY MODEL Claude, GPT, Gemini and dozens of others. Pick the model and the reasoning depth per conversation. Attach photos and files, or paste an image straight into the chat. RUN IT ON THE DEVICE (BETA) Skales Local downloads an openly licensed model once and answers directly on your iPhone or iPad. No key, no connection, works in airplane mode. It is a small model, so it chats and helps with text while the web tools and image generation stay with your online provider. Each model card tells you plainly what it can and cannot do. TALK TO IT A full Voice mode. Just talk to Buddy and Buddy talks back, hands-free, with your tools and approvals working exactly as they do in chat. IT DOES REAL WORK Your AI can use real tools, calendar, tasks, web search, files, contacts and location, and asks your permission first. It can act on the web too, calling an API or sending a form, always asking before each one. Built-in agents (planner, coder, studio) plus custom agents you build yourself. Turn on Pocket Run and it keeps working across many steps until a task is done. Build a whole team of agents from a preset, and connect Home Assistant, Spotify or WordPress with your own account. SKILLS THAT SHIP WITH IT A curated library of working skills comes with the app, from disciplined bug diagnosis to research with cited sources. Attach one to a message, or let Skales reach for the right one on its own. CREATE VISUALS Generate images and video in Studio with your own provider key, design social posts, and share them to the community feed. MAKE THINGS, NOT JUST ANSWERS Flow turns a brief into a finished document, deck or motion piece: pick a style from 74 design aesthetics, add your own brand kit, and export as PDF, image or a self-contained HTML file. Lio builds a clickable app or prototype from a sentence, plans it first and shows you the plan before it starts. A MEMORY THAT GROWS Skales remembers the things that matter across conversations, and you stay in full control of what it knows. DISCOVER A live community feed, topic Spaces, and a personal news briefing pulled straight to your phone. CONTROL YOUR COMPUTER Skales works fully standalone - but pair it with the Skales desktop app over your local WiFi and your phone reaches your computer's AI, sessions and tools. Or open the in-app web interface from any browser on the same network. LOCAL-FIRST PRIVACY Your conversations stay on your device. Optional cloud features are clearly marked and off by default. No account required. DESIGNED FOR EVERYONE Grandma approved AI Agent. No technical knowledge needed. 12 languages. Need help? Email request@skales.app

What’s New

Version 2.7.0 Aug 8, 2026

When the connection to a provider dropped while a reply was being written - a tunnel, a lift, WiFi handing over to mobile - the phone showed whatever had arrived as a finished answer, and an empty one as a finished empty answer. Now it says the request was interrupted, keeps every word that did arrive, and offers to send it again. An answer the model had already finished is no longer lost either when the connection drops a moment later. Your own AI server is reachable from your iPhone at any address you own. Skales was allowing plain connections to home-network addresses only, and the range Tailscale hands out is not one of those, which is why such a server answered in Safari and not in the app. Skales also waits for a model on your own computer the way that computer works: reading a long prompt on your own hardware is silent and can take minutes, and the phone now waits for that instead of giving up - and never re-sends the request, which would set the same machine to work on the same question twice. Setting one up no longer asks for an API key that does not exist. Ollama, LM Studio and any custom endpoint could be listed but not tested and not saved, and a saved one read back as if no provider were configured. LM Studio now has its own place in the provider list, and asks for your computer's address. The model picker has a Free filter: the models nobody pays anyone for, worked out from the catalogue and the address rather than a list somebody keeps. It also remembers each endpoint's model list between visits, with its age next to it and a refresh you press yourself, so a server at home your phone is not near no longer looks like a server with no models. A spreadsheet or a Word file can be shared into Skales from Mail, Files or Drive. Skales has been able to read those for a while and could only be handed one through the attach button. The dashboard is shorter: two walls of shortcuts for a menu one swipe away are gone, so the conversation you were in the middle of is back above the fold. Help & FAQ now says what actually ends a long research run, and a refusal from a router says what it usually means instead of sending you to check a key that is fine.
