Formline is a precise drawing and planning app for iPad and Mac: measured 2D plans, 3D room and site planning, and parametric build projects — together in one local document. Use it when you need something more structured than a sketch but lighter than full CAD: reorganising a room, planning a garage or backyard, checking whether furniture fits, or working out exactly what to build and buy. Documents are native .formline files shared between iPad and Mac, with no account, no analytics, and no cloud requirement. On Mac, Formline adds document windows, keyboard commands, Finder import/save-as, rulers, guides, and print. Formline is intentionally focused. It is not a full CAD suite or BIM tool — it is a compact precision workspace for people who want to plan clearly and keep moving. Privacy note: Formline is local-first. It does not require an account and does not collect analytics, telemetry, contacts, location, photos, camera, or microphone data.

Formline 1.2 is a major Space and Build update. Custom 3D shapes • Outline a simple profile in the Top view, extrude it, then edit its faces, edges, and vertices directly • Paint whole objects or individual faces — swatches, full colour picker, or hex • Real colour editing for furniture, walls, and floors too 3D navigation and editing • Switch directly between 3D and Top, use Fit to frame the space, and navigate with touch, trackpad, or mouse while Apple Pencil stays precise for editing • Select an object for a calm Move / Rotate / Size / Focus strip with precise handles, snapping, live measurements, and numeric entry Doors and placement • Doors gain hinge side, swing direction, and type, drawn as swing arcs — with a warning when furniture blocks a door • Free rotation with detents and exact degrees, plus direct movement and resizing in 3D • Tap a selected object's dimension label to edit sizes in place • The object catalog nearly doubled: wardrobes, baths, ovens, kitchen islands, and more (29 items) Measurement and money • Fractional inches (5 1/2") and feet-inches (5' 10 1/2") input; display to the nearest 1/16" • Prices now follow your local currency, with a Settings override Build mode • New wardrobe projects and a kitchen base cabinet preset • Hardware and fastener estimates in cut lists, CSVs, and PDFs • Dimensioned front and side elevation drawings in the preview and PDF export • Dressers now generate real drawer boxes Plus per-object drawing ink in Plan mode, smoother 3D camera focus, and many small fixes.
