The Shabbat and Yom Tov siddur for Nusach Sefard, a compass that lights up, and a year of days checked one at a time. NUSACH SEFARD: SHABBAT AND YOM TOV Kabbalat Shabbat, Maariv, Shacharit, the Torah reading, Musaf, Mincha, Motzei Shabbat and Havdalah — with the Shabbat meals, the zemiros, candle lighting, Kiddush, Hallel, the Omer and the festival services. Sefard readers had none of it before: the edition the app carries prints those headings in its table of contents and no text beneath them, so the siddur looked complete and stopped at Friday afternoon. It comes from the companion volume of the very same edition, translator included, so it arrives in Hebrew AND English like the weekday text — and English across the whole library nearly doubled. THE PRAYER COMPASS ON APPLE WATCH It would point exactly the right way and refuse to light up. True north is derived from your location, and the watch was waiting on a fix that never arrived, silently. It now asks properly and keeps asking — and when it cannot answer it says which thing is missing, rather than going dark: "still locating you", "allow location for true north", or "turn your wrist in a figure eight" when the compass itself needs calibrating near a magnetic watch band. MUSAF אַתָּה קָדוֹשׁ is back where it belongs. Kedushah is said only with a minyan, and the third blessing of the Amidah had been filed inside it — so folding the minyan-only parts away, which is what happens when you daven alone, hid the very passage you say in Kedushah's place. Fixed in every nusach, on Rosh Chodesh and the festivals. THE RIGHT SECTION, AT THE TOP OF THE SCREEN The running head named whichever passage was last leaving the top of the screen, so it lagged a section behind for a fifth to a third of the way down a long service. It now names the section actually in front of you. THE DAY'S TEXT, DAY BY DAY Every day of the year is now checked against the halacha for that day — Yaaleh V'yavo, Al HaNissim, Tachanun and the days it is omitted in all four nusachim, the motzei Shabbat additions, LeDavid in its season, and v'sein tal u'matar from the 7th of Cheshvan in Israel and early December elsewhere. Chabad bentching: Livnei Korach is said with Shir HaMaalos on days without Tachanun, and it had been appearing every day of the year. ELSEWHERE The Apple Watch no longer redraws the glance sixty times a minute while the screen is dimmed and nobody is reading it. Search and location fields no longer have their placeholder text sliced off mid-word on smaller iPhones. No ads, no data sale, no cross-app tracking. The daily siddur and all 150 chapters of Tehillim stay free.
