Shrot Mahotsav — The Festival of the Source Shrot Mahotsav is a state-level initiative focused on the rejuvenation and revival of river origins across Chhattisgarh. Convened by the Government of Chhattisgarh, Department of Water Resources, this one-day workshop brings together government officials, district leadership, academic experts, Namami Gange specialists, community representatives, NGOs and students to discuss the conservation and revival of the State's major river sources. The initiative focuses on identifying and documenting river origin sites, assessing the current condition of origin zones and feeder sources, and developing scientific and community-led measures for their conservation and revival. It aims to strengthen coordination across departments, institutions and communities while creating a time-bound action plan and roadmap. The event covers nine priority rivers across five major basins, including Mahanadi, Shivnath, Hasdeo, Tandula, Pairi, Mand, Arpa-Son-Tipan, Lilagar and Kelo. The working model follows "One River · One District · One Working Group", bringing together district leadership, local representatives, Sarpanches and community representatives for focused discussions on individual rivers. The Shrot Mahotsav mobile application provides participants with convenient access to event information and programme details.
