About this app
You don’t hate tracking time. You hate working for free. When you work for yourself, an unbilled hour isn’t corporate overhead — it is money taken straight out of your pocket. Time Heist puts a live earnings counter in your Mac’s menu bar and lets it climb, second by second, while you work. Watching an afternoon turn from $40 into $440 is a far better reason to press start than professional guilt ever was. FREE, AND STAYING THAT WAY • Unlimited clients, projects and tasks • Live earnings in the menu bar — money, elapsed time, or both • A rate per client, overridden per project, or set on an individual task • Billable and unbillable work tracked side by side, so you can see what you gave away and what your hour really came to • Daily, weekly and monthly totals, with charts • Compare clients, projects and kinds of work by what each truly paid per hour • An Unbilled view listing every hour tracked but not yet billed, oldest first • Idle detection that asks what to do with the gap when you walk away • A global shortcut to start and stop without leaving what you are doing • CSV export, plus local backup and restore to move to a new Mac THE ONE-TIME UNLOCK Three actions are paid: creating new invoices, Google Sheets sync, and formatted Excel .xlsx export. One payment, once. There is no subscription. Invoices come out as designed PDFs, not raw hours — a line per project, or per task at its own rate, with tax worked out and the numbering kept clean. Set your logo, your brand color and any typeface installed on your Mac; each invoice stores its own copy of that design, so redesigning next year never changes what you already sent. Void an invoice and it keeps its number while the hours become billable again. WHERE A PDF IS NOT THE INVOICE This matters more than a footnote, so it is here rather than buried. Thirteen countries clear every domestic invoice through a government system: Italy, Poland, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, South Korea, Türkiye, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. In those, a Time Heist PDF is not a weaker invoice — it is not the invoice, and your client still needs the official one. Time Heist says so itself when you set your region, and again before you pay. Work you bill to clients abroad is outside those rules. France, Germany, Spain and Belgium are moving to structured invoices sent over an approved network. Time Heist writes that file — EN 16931 in CII — for you or your accountant to send. It writes the file; it does not deliver it. Everywhere else, a PDF carrying the right details is a legal invoice, and that is what Time Heist produces. Confirming it meets the rules where you and your client are established is your call, not the app’s. YOUR DATA IS YOURS No account. No server. No telemetry, no analytics, no third-party libraries at all. Your hours, clients, rates and invoices live in a database on your own Mac. Google Sheets sync is optional, goes straight from your Mac to your Drive, and asks for the narrowest permission Google offers — access to the files Time Heist creates, and nothing else in your Drive. THE TRIAL, PLAINLY Everything is free to try for 30 days. When the trial ends, time tracking carries on exactly as before. Nothing you have recorded is ever locked away: invoices you already issued stay readable and printable, and CSV export keeps working. Only creating new invoices, Google Sheets sync and Excel export stop, until you unlock them with a single one-time purchase. Built for one person working for themselves. No team dashboards, no employee monitoring, no screenshots of your screen — Time Heist has no idea what apps you open or what you type. Available in English, German, French, Spanish and Japanese. Requires macOS 14 or later.
