About this app
A bus lot. A queue of tourists. One way out. Bus Tourist Craze is a journey puzzle about untangling gridlock. Every level is a single leg of a trip across Canada, and the only way to reach the next destination is to get every tourist on board. HOW IT PLAYS Buses sit packed in a lot, each one facing a direction. A bus can pull out only if the straight line ahead of it is clear to the edge and only if a depot bay is free to take it. A dispatched bus waits in its bay while tourists board from a rotating turntable. It leaves when every seat is full, and only then does the bay open up again. So a bay is not a parking space. It is a commitment. Send the wrong bus, and it sits there, half full, holding a bay you needed. Clear the lot, and the convoy moves on. ONE HUNDRED LEGS ACROSS CANADA The route runs from Vancouver International Airport to Parliament Hill in Ottawa, through Stanley Park, Granville Island, the Cabot Trail, ByWard Market and ninety-odd more real places. Each leg you clear is a stop on the map, with art of where you have arrived. There is no score. There are no stars or grades. The journey is the only progress there is, and how many tries a leg took you is nobody's business. EVERY LEVEL IS SOLVABLE — AND WORTH SOLVING Each of the hundred levels is checked by a solver before it ships, so a level you cannot beat is never a level that cannot be beaten. Every level also has to survive two automated players that look for shortcuts. If either one can clear a level by simply counting the queue and sending the obvious bus, that level is thrown out and regenerated. What is left needs actual thinking. The difficulty is not a smooth ramp, either. Legs come in bands, with the occasional wall — because a curve you cannot feel is not difficulty; it is decoration.
