About this app
I have type 1, and I built T1DAL because the apps I could find either wanted to work out my insulin or wanted to grade me. This one does neither. It never suggests a dose, and nothing in it scores your diabetes. THE PREBOLUS NUDGE Taking insulin before a meal instead of during it is the habit that helps most and slips most. T1DAL learns when you actually eat and asks, a little before: "Lunch soon. Insulin first?" A question about sequence, with no number in it. You pick which meals get one, you can add your own, and a meal logged ahead puts a count to it on your lock screen. LOGGING IN ONE TAP From the app, the lock screen, the widget, or the notification itself. What you ate and when. Never how much you took. CARBS OFF THE LABEL Scan the barcode on a pack and the carbs come from the label. Eating at a chain? About 25,000 menu items from 91 chains, public health department data kept on the phone so it works with no signal, with the year it comes from stated at the top of the screen. Correct a number once and the app remembers that food. YOUR GLUCOSE HISTORY If your CGM app shares to Apple Health, T1DAL can read it with your permission and show the last fourteen days: time in range, overnight average, night lows, and how long your sensor has left. It is a picture of what happened, not a live number and not an alarm. It stays on the phone and is never written back. THE REFERENCE SHELF Seventy-five terms in plain words. Pieces about the parts nobody briefs you on: broken sleep, rationing supplies, burnout, the mental load, the first months. Device and insulin-cost helplines, crisis lines, and a search of the public provider registry for an endocrinologist. All of it works offline. SOMEWHERE TO PUT THE HARD DAYS A four-question check-in with no score, and a journal nobody reads but you. On iPhones with the model built into iOS, T1DAL can reflect an entry back to you, written on the phone, with nothing sent anywhere. NO ACCOUNT, NO ADS, NO SERVER Nothing to sign up for. Everything lives on your phone. Export all of it to a file, or delete all of it, from inside the app. T1DAL is a wellness app, not a medical device, and not medical care. It does not diagnose or treat anything, and it never suggests insulin doses. Decisions about your diabetes belong with you and your care team.
