About this app

Most protein tools stop at a number. "Your target is 92 g" is true and almost useless, because nobody can picture 92 g. ProtiGram turns the number into a plate: what it looks like in ordinary food, what you have left today, and how to close the gap. TWO NUMBERS, NOT ONE Your minimum is the published RDI for your age and sex. Your suggested target sits above it, adjusted for your weight, activity and goal. Both are shown, both show their working, and both link out to whoever published the figure. No single magic number presented as settled fact. TAP, DON'T LOG Fifteen tiles cover 88 everyday foods — eggs, chicken, red meat, fish, yoghurt, cheese, tofu, legumes, nuts, grains. Tap one and it counts. No search, no scrolling, no barcodes, no weighing. One half-serve switch covers the times 100 g was more than you ate, and that is deliberately the only portion control in the app. WHAT'S LEFT, ANSWERED IN FOOD "28 g remaining" is not an instruction. Two eggs and a glass of milk is. The gap is always answered as things you could eat in the next hour. BUILD MY PROTEIN DAY Say how many meals you eat and how you eat — everything, vegetarian or vegan — and it lays out a day that lands in your range: breakfast, lunch, dinner, with the grams beside each. Don't fancy it? Build another. Different food, same arithmetic. FOODS OF YOUR OWN The grid covers ordinary food and stops at the packet. Photograph the nutrition panel on the tub, the bar or the shake in your hand and the app reads the protein row off it, asks whether you meant per serve or per 100 g, and turns it into a tile you tap like any other. The reading happens on your phone — the photo is never uploaded and is deleted as soon as it has been read. HOW THE WEEK ACTUALLY WENT Your days, kept for 90 of them, with 7-day and 30-day averages against your target. Every average carries the number of days you logged, because four good days out of seven is a good week, not 57% of one. It also totals eight micronutrients — zinc, iron, magnesium, calcium, selenium, iodine, vitamin D and vitamin B12 — against the reference amount for your age and sex. When your protein foods already cover one, it says so. When they don't, it says the total is unknown rather than low: the app only ever saw the protein on your plate, not the milk in your coffee, and it won't diagnose a shortfall from a partial view. WHERE THE NUMBERS COME FROM Protein per portion: FSANZ Australian Food Composition Database, Release 3, with USDA FoodData Central for the few foods it doesn't carry. Portion sizes: the Australian Dietary Guidelines standard serves. Targets and nutrient reference amounts: the NHMRC / New Zealand Ministry of Health Nutrient Reference Values. Every figure in the app carries a link to its source. WHAT IT ISN'T No calorie counting. No barcode scanning. No account, no sign-in, no sync, no cloud, no ads. Your profile and your days sit on your phone, and there is nowhere for them to go. ProtiGram gives general nutrition information and is not medical advice. If you are pregnant, have kidney disease or are managing a health condition, talk to your doctor or a dietitian before changing how much protein you eat. PROTIGRAM PREMIUM The target, the food grid, tap-to-track are free, with no ads and no limits. What’s New

Version 1.3 Sep 1, 2026

Insights now adds up what the protein food came to in energy, in kilojoules and Calories both — and says plainly that it isn't your whole day, because the app only ever counted what you tapped. The nutrient table reads today as well as the week, and carries two more lines: iodine and vitamin D, alongside zinc, iron, magnesium, calcium, selenium and B12. Eight now, each one from protein food alone, each one still linked to the reference value it is measured against. You can set your own g per kg. The suggested range is worked out from Australian guidance; the app now says so, and steps aside if you train to a different figure. Pounds and ounces, where those are what's spoken. The weight question takes pounds, and a US device gets the grid's portions in ounces — recounted from the source figures rather than converted. Today's bar turns orange below the RDI minimum, so the number that is a floor rather than a target looks like one. "How can I get the remaining 77 g?" answers with food whatever the gap is. It used to give up on the big ones, which is when it was asked most. Build a day is part of Premium. The plans screen has always listed it as one, and the tab is now what the plans say it is. Also: duck breast joins the grid, which is 88 foods across 15 tiles; the label reader copes with creased, angled and badly lit panels it used to refuse; and three eggs are called that rather than one egg three times.
