About this app
Beachwise answers one simple question: is it nice at the beach today, and is it comfortable to swim? Most sea and surf apps are built for surfers — walls of jargon about swell periods and wave sets. Beachwise is built for everyone else: families, travelers, and anyone who just wants to grab a towel and go. WHY PEOPLE LIKE IT - A human "swim comfort" score. Instead of raw numbers, you get a clear green / amber / red rating with a plain-English reason ("Water's a touch cool, but the sea is calm"). - The nearest beaches, ranked. Turn on location and Beachwise shows the closest beaches sorted by distance, each with the water temperature and a comfort badge. - Big, readable numbers. Air and water temperature side by side, the way you actually think about a beach day. - Everything that matters, nothing that doesn't: waves (height & period), wind (speed, gusts, direction), UV index, "feels like", sunrise and sunset. - A 7-day beach forecast plus an hour-by-hour view for today. - Heads-up alerts when rain, stronger wind, bigger waves or thickening cloud are moving in over the next few hours. - Official water-quality info where available — bathing-water ratings in Europe and beach advisories in the United States. - A Favorites tab. Save the beaches you love and keep an eye on them, even when you're far away. - Works offline, with recent searches and city search built in — no account needed. FREE Beachwise is completely free, with no account and no clutter. Just open it and go. DATA YOU CAN TRUST Weather and marine data by Open-Meteo. Beach locations from OpenStreetMap. Water-quality information from the European Environment Agency (EEA) and the U.S. EPA. A quick note on safety: the comfort score is a helpful guideline based on weather and sea data. It is not a substitute for lifeguard warnings, local advisories or beach flags. Always follow on-site safety signage before you get in the water. Have a lovely swim.
