About this app

BikeMap DC is the community-curated cycling map for the Washington, D.C. metro area — built by riders, for riders. Whether you're commuting from Silver Spring, racing across the Key Bridge, or rolling along the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail, BikeMap DC puts every protected lane, every Capital Bikeshare dock, every fix-it stand, and every water fountain on one fast, ad-free map. WHAT'S ON THE MAP • 5,500+ bike-infrastructure segments — protected lanes, conventional bike lanes, contraflow lanes, bus/bike lanes, shared lanes (sharrows), signed routes, off-street trails, unpaved trails, and mountain bike trails. The same 9-category legend used by goDCgo. • 5,700+ points of interest — Bike Parking, Capital Bikeshare stations, fix-it stands, bike shops, water fill stations, public restrooms, Metro stations, MARC and VRE commuter rail, DC rec centers, and DC landmarks. • 1,700+ cyclist crash locations from four years of MPD Vision Zero data — see where the dangerous intersections are before you ride. • Full coverage of DC plus Arlington, Alexandria, Falls Church, Tysons, Bethesda, Silver Spring, Capitol Heights, College Park, Hyattsville, New Carrollton, and Suitland. COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTIONS • Add your own points of interest — bike parking, bike shop, fix-it stand, water fill, restroom, Capital Bikeshare — with a draggable mini-map pin. • Report bike thefts with an optional photo so the community can stay alert. • Report cyclist accidents to surface dangerous spots. • All submissions are moderated before they go live. PERSONAL BIKE REGISTRY • Save your bikes — nickname, brand, color, serial number, photo, and a Conventional / E-bike toggle. Keep the info you'd need if your bike is ever stolen. WORKS THE WAY YOU DO • Live user-location dot with accuracy halo. • English and Latin American Spanish — switch languages instantly, no restart. • Toggle any layer on or off to declutter the map. • Tap any point for a full info card with the source attribution. DATA YOU CAN TRUST Every row is attributed to its source: DDOT (bike lanes, parking, Capital Bikeshare registry), DCGIS (Metro, commuter rail, signed routes, rec centers), Capital Bikeshare GBFS, MPD Vision Zero (crash data), and OpenStreetMap (bike shops, water fountains, restrooms, trailheads, MTB trails). Imports are refreshed regularly and the map legend follows the goDCgo standard. BUILT FOR THE COMMUNITY BikeMap DC is ad-free, open-source, and made for the cycling community. We rely on riders like you to keep the map accurate. Found a missing fix-it stand or a closed bike shop? Email us with the reference code shown on every point. What’s New

Version 1.1 May 25, 2026

What's new in 1.1: • Real-time alerts for nearby bike alerts — both in-app banner and lock-screen push, with a distinctive caw sound. • Faster map: pins now cluster at low zoom so panning and zooming stay smooth even with thousands of points. • Improved admin panel: approve / reject pending submissions more reliably; submission IDs are only assigned after approval. • Cleaner point details: the photo now shows directly inside the POI sheet for stolen-bike reports. • Various stability and performance improvements.
