About this app
Binary World is an interactive educational experience that brings the invisible world of binary numbers to life. Winner of the Apple Swift Student Challenge 2026 — this app was born from a simple question: "How do computers understand numbers, letters, and images?" The answer is surprisingly elegant: everything is built from just two symbols — 0 and 1. Through three carefully crafted missions, you'll experience this truth firsthand. MISSION 1: DIGITAL CLOCK Tap a digit on a digital clock and watch it decompose into 7-segment displays. Discover Binary-Coded Decimal (BCD) — the system that lets just 4 bits represent any digit from 0 to 9. Then set the clock to a target time by toggling bits yourself. MISSION 2: TEXT MESSAGE Watch a chat conversation unfold, then peek inside the word "Hi" to see how computers store text. Each character maps to a number using the ASCII standard, and that number becomes 8 bits of binary. Decode a secret 3-letter message by matching binary patterns. MISSION 3: PIXEL ART See a familiar image pixelate step by step, revealing the binary grid underneath. Every pixel is either on (1) or off (0). Complete a pixel art challenge by reading binary hints and filling in the missing rows. FEATURES - Three progressive missions: Numbers → Letters → Images - Hands-on bit toggling — learn by doing, not watching - Gentle hint system that adapts to your pace - Beautiful dark-themed UI with smooth animations - Haptic feedback and sound effects for every interaction - Full accessibility support with VoiceOver - No ads, no tracking, no in-app purchases, no account required Whether you're a student, educator, parent, or simply curious about how computers work, Binary World makes the digital world's most fundamental concept approachable and fun.
