Someone you are thinking about. A day you are getting through. A decision you have made and want to sit with. Light a candle for it. It burns down over 24 hours, on your Home Screen, where you keep seeing it. When the flame goes out, it tells you. A candle, not a picture of one. The flame moves the whole time, which almost nothing on a Home Screen does. That is the whole app. WHAT PEOPLE LIGHT IT FOR An anniversary they do not want to pass unmarked. Someone in surgery at four o'clock. A friend they cannot be with today. An exam. A court date. A person they lost, on the day they lost them. You type what it is for, or you light it without words. Either way it burns the same. IT LIVES ON YOUR HOME SCREEN The candle on the widget is the same candle as in the app, at the same height, burning down in real time. You do not open anything to check on it. You just see it, the way you would see a real one across the room. After the flame dies the wax stays warm for about an hour, then goes cold. NOTHING LEAVES YOUR PHONE No account. No sign-in. No server. No analytics. No ads. What you light the candle for is the most private thing here, and it is built to stay that way. It never appears in a notification, because a notification would render it on your Lock Screen where anyone could read it. It never travels in a link, because links get written to system logs. It stays on your device, and your device is the only place it exists. TWO CANDLES A pixel one and a smooth one. Pick either, and your Home Screen draws exactly what you picked. Every candle you light is kept, so you can look back at what you were carrying. CANDLE, EVERY MONTH Any color behind the candle, a room you set yourself, or your own photograph.
