About this app

Crest turns the material you already have into a daily study plan, and tells you honestly how ready you are for the day that counts. You bring the notes. Crest reads them, pulls out the concepts worth practising, and shows you a short session every day — the right concepts, at the right time, without you having to decide what to study. ONE NUMBER THAT MEANS SOMETHING The readiness ring is not a progress bar. It is an estimate of what you would remember on the day of your exam, built from your own review history. Anything you have not studied counts as zero. That is harsh, and it is the only way the number stays worth trusting. Set the date. Watch the number. If it is not moving fast enough, you find out with weeks to spare instead of the night before. BUILT ON SPACED REPETITION Crest uses FSRS — a modern memory model — to work out when you are about to forget each concept, and shows it to you just before that happens. It is the same principle behind Anki, without the setup, the decks, or the hours of card-making. THREE WAYS TO STUDY • The daily session — whatever is due, sized to the time you said you had • Sprint — the same material against a clock, for the days the routine feels dull • Mock exam — a rehearsal of the real thing The mock exam is the one no flashcard app can copy, because it needs to know when your exam is. It asks about the concepts least likely to survive until that date rather than the ones due today, says nothing until you finish, and puts your score next to your readiness figure. If the two agree, the number is describing you accurately. YOUR MATERIAL, TURNED INTO PRACTICE A lecture PDF, a page of typed notes, a chapter from a textbook. Crest restructures what you give it into questions worth answering. It never adds a fact your material did not contain, and it never invents study content. The PDF needs selectable text: photographs and scans of handwriting cannot be read. Turning a document into questions needs a language model, so the text you import is sent to be read. Nothing identifying you goes with it — there is no account and no identifier to send — and it is not kept. The privacy policy sets out exactly what happens to it. No analytics, no third-party tracking. Your material and progress are backed up to your own private iCloud, so changing or losing a phone does not cost you a term's work. That storage belongs to your Apple Account — we have no access to it, and you can switch it off in Settings. EVERY EXAM, ONE PLACE Nobody sits a single exam. Each one gets its own material, its own schedule and its own readiness figure, so you can see at a glance which one is behind. WHAT ELSE IS IN THERE • A daily session that takes about six minutes • Streaks and history, so you can see the work accumulating • Charts of readiness over time and concepts practised per session • One optional daily reminder, which stays quiet on days you have already studied and on days nothing is due • Full support for Dynamic Type, VoiceOver and Reduce Motion • English and Spanish WHAT CREST IS NOT It does not answer homework. It does not write your essays. It does not generate study material out of thin air, and it cannot promise you a grade — no app can, and any that says otherwise is selling you something it cannot deliver. What it can do is stop you finding out too late. FREE, AND WHAT COSTS MONEY The daily habit is free forever: the sessions, the schedule, the readiness ring, streaks, progress history and reminders. The free plan covers one exam and three documents. Crest Premium removes both limits — every exam you are sitting, and far more of each document read in one go. Monthly or yearly, with a 7-day free trial on the yearly plan. Subscriptions are billed to your Apple Account and renew until cancelled. Cancel any time in Settings.
