About this app
Have fun cracking secret codes! The messages here have been encrypted with mathematical ciphers. Find the patterns and use them to help crack the codes. Each day a new encrypted message is released. Messages include anecdotes about the history of cryptography, fun facts about science, and inspirational quotes. See how many days in a row you can successfully crack a message! All released messages are available through the app’s calendar. Every day of the week except Sunday has its own cipher type: Caesar, Additive, Keyword, Multiplicative, Vigenère, or Affine. The ciphers generally get more complicated as the week goes on. Sunday’s message is a wildcard that could use any of those cipher types. Don’t know what these ciphers are? No problem! The app has descriptions and examples of the patterns involved. It also has tools such as frequency tables that can help you guess letters, along with cipher tables to help you keep track of your guesses and look for patterns. CryptoClub Daily Ciphers is a companion app to the Daily Messages portion of the cryptoclub.org website. Check out the website for games, badges, and other activities that involve secret codes. An Internet connection is required to use this app. Data rates may apply. Consult your carrier for information about data rates. Funding for development was provided by the National Science Foundation.
