About this app

Night fell on the Dimwood and never lifted. The Great Beacon has gone dark. The Gloom — a soft, creeping thing that eats unattended light — moved in behind it, and the small creatures of the wood are stranded in pockets of fading glow. You are Lumen. A spark that leapt from the Beacon's final ember, and the last light left. Lumen cannot fight. Lumen can only lead. FOLLOW ME Find a frightened creature, touch its glow-pocket, and say the only words you know. It falls in behind you. Then another. Soon a line of small lights trails through the dark, and the game becomes what it always was: You are safe in your own light. Your followers are not. The line behind you sweeps through every hazard you slip past. A corner taken too tightly drags your tail through the Gloom. The real puzzle is never your path — it is the path your tail takes. ONE THUMB, EIGHT NIGHTS Drag anywhere and Lumen eases toward your finger. That is the whole control scheme. Nothing to learn. No game over. The Night Road is eight hand-built chapters, a few minutes each. Brambles. Gates. Wisps that mimic your glow and make the same promise you do — this game's title, corrupted. Losing a follower is never permanent. It drops out and waits where it stopped. Go back. It will still be there. THE ONES YOU FIND Mossbuns are the loyal baseline. They follow, and they trust you completely. Then the road starts handing you creatures that change the shape of your own tail. The Tadling swings wide on every turn. The Stonepup refuses to step aside at all, and takes your corner at exactly the radius you took it. The Emberling burns a bramble it is walked into — three times — which makes your tail, for once, something to aim instead of something to protect. The Glowfly is rarer, and it is found rather than rescued. Its light reaches where yours cannot: from your tail it points out stardust past the edge of your sight. A boon — and one more small life to keep safe. THREE STARS AND A SEAL Everyone home. Under par. The stardust goal. Three ways to be good at this, and they disagree with each other on purpose. The Unafraid seal keeps its own ledger: nobody frightened, the whole way home. THE LONG WAY HOME Glade's End does not finish on a win screen. Lumen gives its light to the Beacon and goes dark. The creatures you saved form the line ahead, carrying sparks, and this time you follow them. Now you follow me. ENDLESS DIMWOOD The wood does not run out of nights. Each one is generated, named, and written up afterward in an almanac — a two-line diary in Lumen's voice, kept for you. The first night is free. After that it is one payment, and there is nothing else in this game to buy. No ads. No currency. No second thing. MADE TO BE HEARD The night can be spoken aloud. A separate narration voice reads the world, and a VoiceOver rotor tells you who is still waiting and roughly how far — never a hazard, because a spoken Gloom would turn listening to the dark into radar. Silent Mode does not mute the game. Steering does not fight VoiceOver. QUIET PROMISES There is no network code in this game. No accounts, no ads, no tracking, no analytics, nothing phoning home. The App Store handles the one purchase, and that is the whole of it. It works on a plane, in a tunnel, at three in the morning with the wifi off. A little light leads them home.
