About this app

Learn words and phrases offline with a multilingual flashcard trainer. ENRURO is a vocabulary gym for learners who already know some basics and just want to grow their vocabulary. Start with 300 cards free and see whether ENRURO fits you. The full library has 6,000 cards across 25 languages and 600 translation directions. Expanded content uses one-time purchases; there is no content subscription. LANGUAGE HIIT: MIXED LEVELS BY DESIGN HIIT = High-Intensity Interval Training. Language HIIT is ENRURO’s metaphor for changing mental load during a vocabulary workout. Sessions intentionally mix CEFR levels: • A1–A2 = warm-up • B1–B2 = working set • C1–C2 = tougher vocabulary, idioms, false friends, and subtler meanings Easy card. Then maybe a C1 idiom. Not a bug — that’s the point! The changing load helps keep you out of autopilot. USE THE CARDS YOUR WAY ENRURO does not force a single study order. Flip a card whenever you want. It is useful to pause, think first and try to remember the word or phrase — give your brain a workout — or turn it over immediately and keep moving. No penalty for that. The decision stays simple: • “Learn” — keep the card active • “Know” — remove it from normal rotation • “Example” — open extra context • “Undo” — reverse the last decision Use buttons or swipes and move at your own pace. No AI assistant decides what you know or answers for you. The app provides the structure; you decide how to train. WHY RECALL FIRST? If you choose to pause and try to remember before checking the other side, there is research behind that idea. Studies of retrieval practice — often called the testing effect — have found that actively retrieving information can improve later retention compared with passive restudy. Researchers also use the term “desirable difficulties” for effort that makes practice harder now but can support later learning. ENRURO takes inspiration from that idea too — without assuming harder is always better. HOW SESSIONS ADAPT A built-in offline planner chooses from active cards using CEFR-aware mixing and your daily goal. As easy vocabulary is marked with “Know”, the remaining deck becomes more relevant — and often harder. Daily progress is not a tap counter. “Learn” is not failure; it keeps a card active. To reach a goal of 10 known cards, you might send just as many — or more — back to “Learn”. And that is okay! Few things stimulate the brain as effectively as an intellectual challenge — and those “Learn” cards are exactly that. 25 STUDY LANGUAGES + Türkçe · Bahasa Indonesia · Bahasa Melayu · हिन्दी · العربية · Ελληνικά WHAT’S INSIDE • 6,000 vocabulary cards • Examples for context — help “anchor” a word in memory • CEFR-aware mixed-level sessions — mixed on purpose to break monotony and keep your brain out of autopilot • Simple control: “Learn” / “Know” + optional “Undo” / “Example” • Offline • No AI assistant in the core learning loop • No account, ads, or push notifications • No content subscription • 300 cards free • One-time purchases for expanded content ENRURO is not a complete language course. Use it for vocabulary growth, focused recall, quick review, or multilingual flashcards at your own pace. GALLERY — 70 MASCOTS Enruro is inspired by my cat Jeeves, a Russian Blue. In the Gallery, he wears national costumes and cosplays as remarkable people from different countries. A new image unlocks every 10 learned cards through the first 100, then every 100 cards. After all 6,000 cards, the final image represents something especially important to me — the shared destiny of all humanity. I believe language barriers should be easier to cross and people should have more ways to understand one another. ENRURO is my personal project and my small contribution to that idea. Respectfully, Andrei

• Huge expansion: your pocket gym now has 25 study languages • + Türkçe · Bahasa Indonesia · Bahasa Melayu · हिन्दी · العربية · Ελληνικά • 6,000 vocabulary cards and 600 study directions • CEFR Language HIIT for offline practice • No account, ads, content subscriptions, or notifications • No AI assistant to help—or distract • Dictionary and examples polished across the app • One-time purchase unlocks the expanded deck forever • Mascot Gallery milestones, made with love • Bug fixes and stability hardening • And, just to make sure I still like the foundations I built this around, I went back and carefully reread a few of the classic texts that influenced ENRURO. Retrieval practice, studied by Henry Roediger and Jeffrey Karpicke, starts with a simple idea: trying to pull the answer out of memory is already part of learning! Robert Bjork’s work on “desirable difficulties” adds another important point. Practice does not have to stay easy, even, and perfectly predictable all the time. Variety and interleaving can be useful while the challenge is still manageable. So if an easy card is suddenly followed by a hard one, that’s it! Nothing is broken. The change of pace is intentional. Language HIIT should not turn into a monotonous conveyor belt where your brain quickly slips into autopilot. And the examples on the cards are not just reference material. David Ausubel’s idea of meaningful learning is built around connecting new information to what is already in our system of knowledge. That is why a good example gives a new word living context and extra semantic hooks. It helps anchor the word not as a bare “word = translation” pair, but as part of a language. First give your memory a chance to reach for the word itself. Then flip the card, check the answer, or learn it if the word is new to you. The example adds the context the new knowledge can grab onto. No AI assistant going out to the internet to fetch the answer for you.
