About this app
Use the FieldScout GreenIndex+ app to measure the chlorophyll content of your plants and compute nitrogen application recommendations to maximize your production. GreenIndex+ determines the DGCI (Dark Green Color Index) of plant leaves. DGCI is a number between 0 and 1, related to the chlorophyll content. You must use the app with specific green and yellow color standards on a pink target board in order for the DGCI to be computed accurately. It’s as easy as: 1. Using GreenIndex+, take a picture of a leaf lying across the target board. 2. On the screen, tap the green and yellow disks and the leaf to identify the areas to be analyzed. Move and resize the leaf’s circle to analyze the exact portion you want. 3. Read the results: DGCI, and for corn, a SPAD equivalent and nitrogen application recommendations based on university research when using high-Nitrogen reference strips. Results are logged with time stamps and GPS information (if Location Services are enabled), and can be emailed for further analysis with other programs. Averaging combines multiple samples into a single computation, or optionally related readings can be grouped while maintaining the separate data values. Use the White Balance Lock feature to improve accuracy in low or artificial light environments. Requires a rear-camera-equipped iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad, running iOS 8.0 or later. For DGCI calculations to be accurate, pictures must be taken with the leaves in front of a pink background board with specific green and yellow standard color disks. GreenIndex+ Boards are available from www.SpecMeters.com/GreenIndex.
