Film Barcode

About this app

Every film has a color story. So does every photo. Film Barcode reveals them. Pick any video: a movie, a home video, footage you shot. Film Barcode compresses its entire timeline into a single striking image, showing how the colors of your film evolve from the first frame to the last. Or pick a photo, and its palette becomes the image: the colors that make the picture yours, laid out as art. Golden-hour openings, cold blue night scenes, a crimson finale. You'll see the whole story at a glance. FOUR SHAPES • Strip: the classic movie barcode, thin vertical stripes left to right • Ring: your film sweeps around a circle like a clock, starting at 12 • Disc: time grows outward from the center like tree rings • Nautilus: a logarithmic spiral with the growth rate of a real nautilus shell, your film coiled into nature's own curve MAKE IT YOURS • Three styles: Dominant (each moment's strongest color), Average (each moment blended to one color), or Squeezed (each frame pressed into a textured slice) • Ignore Neutrals: blacks, whites, and grays step aside so even night scenes reveal their true colors • Scene mode: trim to any part of the video with Photos-style handles and barcode just that scene • Choose how many bars, from broad strokes to thousands of fine stripes • Aspect ratios from CinemaScope to square, wallpaper sizes matched to your device, output up to 5K PHOTO BARCODES • Any photo becomes art: its true colors, never blends, as stripes, a ring, a disc, or a nautilus spiral • Order the palette by where colors sit in the photo, how the palette flows, or which colors dominate • One bold band or forty-eight fine ones, each color's width equal or matching its share of the photo • A Photos gallery of its own: every tile shows your photo in black and white with its barcode floating above it INSTANT • Videos up to fifteen minutes generate the moment you tap: the app reads your video's colors in the background while you choose settings, so the result paints in instantly • Photos are instant too: the palette is read the moment you pick, and every settings change repaints as you make it • Live preview always shows exactly what you'll get, before and after POSTERS • Make a poster the moment your barcode finishes, or from any barcode in your gallery • Turn any barcode into a print-ready poster: gallery black, classic mat, any background color you choose, or full bleed, with titles and captions • Social sizes for sharing, named paper sizes (Letter, A4, 12×18 and more) stamped with true print DPI FAST AND PRIVATE • Everything happens on your device. No account, no uploads, no tracking: your videos and photos never leave your device • Works with any video file you have. Streaming services encrypt their content, so those can't be read; your own footage, home videos, and personal files all work KEEP AND SHARE • Every barcode is saved with the exact settings that made it • Reshape any barcode you've saved, video or photo, into a new shape, a different bar count, other orderings, all without the original file • A gallery of square tiles, browsed like Photos: tap to open fullscreen, swipe between barcodes, tap any stripe to see the moment it came from • Share anywhere or save straight to your photo library Turn the films you love, the films you make, and the pictures you take into art.

Photos join films, and every barcode you save can be reshaped. TURN ANY PHOTO INTO COLOR-STORY ART • PHOTO BARCODES: pick a photo and its colors become a barcode: the palette of a sunset, a painting, a face you love, as stripes, a ring, a disc, or a nautilus spiral • REAL COLORS, NOT AVERAGES: every bar is a color that is actually in your photo, never a smeared blend of two, and the bar count never promises more colors than your photo holds • THREE ORDERINGS: Position follows where colors live in the frame, Flow walks the palette from darkest onward, Dominance ranks by how much of the photo each color owns • AS FEW OR AS MANY: from one bold band (your photo's single most representative color) to forty-eight fine ones, with Equal or Proportional widths • TWO GALLERIES: Videos and Photos live in their own tabs, and a photo barcode's tile shows the photo itself in black and white behind its barcode (iOS; the Mac keeps its single gallery) • YOUR PHOTO'S REAL NAME: barcodes take their titles from the photo's filename, the one you know from Photos • LONG-PRESS THE APP ICON for a new Video Barcode or Photo Barcode straight from the Home Screen (iOS only) RESHAPE ANYTHING YOU'VE SAVED • RESHAPE: take a barcode you saved months ago and bend it into a ring, grow it into a disc, coil it into a spiral, or change its bars, orderings and colors. No original video or photo needed: the color story travels with the barcode • LIVE PREVIEW, EVERYWHERE: change a shape or drag the bar count and the real barcode paints in as you go, not a sketch of one • SAVING NO LONGER WAITS: Save to Gallery, Save to Photos and Make Poster are there as soon as there is something to save, with no Generate tap standing in the way • PROGRESS WHERE YOU CAN SEE IT: a long save reports itself on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island, so you can leave the app and come back (iOS only) • LONGER FILMS GENERATE INSTANTLY: up to about fifteen minutes of footage at 30fps • MORE ROOM ON iPad: settings and barcode sit side by side in both orientations (iPad only) AND THROUGHOUT • POSTER BACKGROUNDS GO ANYWHERE: a full color picker joins the preset mats, and the caption ink adjusts itself to whatever you choose • FASTER AND STEADIER EVERYWHERE: photo barcodes generate instantly while the full-quality render finishes underneath, galleries scroll smoother, and a season of under-the-hood fixes hardens saving, deleting, and renaming

Momentum comes from crawler snapshots for the tracked storefront. “Viral growth signal” means unusually fast recent rating gains; it is an indicator, not download data.
