Guess the Swiss Canton

About this app

Do you know all 26 Swiss cantons? Learn them by playing. Each turn a canton lights up on the map of Switzerland and an enlarged copy of its shape pops out. Name it as fast as you can: the quicker you answer, the more points you earn. Guess all 26 and send your score to the Game Center leaderboard. A simple, quick game for kids, students, families and anyone who wants to learn or brush up on Swiss geography. Great at school, for a geography test, or just for fun. TWO WAYS TO PLAY • Classic: type the name of the canton yourself. Free. The name is accepted in English, German, French or Italian. • Multiple choice: pick the right name among four answers. Perfect for kids, included with Premium. FEATURES • All 26 cantons, including the smallest ones: the enlarged shape makes Basel-Stadt, Zug or Appenzell Innerrhoden easy to see. • Speed bonus that drops in 20 seconds, with a timer that stops whenever you pause. • Game Center leaderboards, one for each mode. • In English, German, French and Italian, with the canton names in your language. • For iPhone and iPad. • No account needed. In 1981, when we were 12 years old, he taught me how to program in Basic and made me fall in love with the Apple world. He had written a program to guess the U.S. states from their shapes alone: that is how I learned the names of all 50 states. Together we then adapted the idea to the 20 Italian regions. Thank you, Al, for passing on to me the joy of programming: this app is also thanks to you.

Version 3.0 is a new app: • Now free, and on iPhone as well as iPad. • New look: the canton lights up on the map and an enlarged copy of its shape pops out, so even the smallest ones are easy to see. • Speed bonus: the faster you answer, the more points you earn. • New Classic mode: type the name of the canton yourself. It accepts the name in English, German, French or Italian. • Two Game Center leaderboards, one per mode. • Premium (optional) removes the ads and unlocks Multiple choice mode.
