About this app

The HKGeology gives a simplified account of the geology of Hong Kong and is a useful reference tool in field, which will help teachers, students, members of the public and geotechnical practitioners. The application includes an interactive geological map and the description of major rock types and geological features that could be found in different parts of Hong Kong. You can locate yourself and find out the types of rock that you are standing on. The contents in this mobile application are based on the geology book “Hong Kong Geology – A 400 Million Journey” and a complete version can be found in the website of the Civil Engineering and Development Department of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The geological map of Hong Kong given in this application is based on the HGM100 series at a scale of 1:100 000 published by the Hong Kong Geological Survey. The digital topographic map is published by the Survey and Mapping Office of the Lands Department.
