About this app

Inspekt.ID — Passport & ID Chip Verification Inspekt.ID reads and verifies the electronic chip embedded in a biometric passport or national ID card — the same technology used at airport e-gates — right on your iPhone. Using NFC, Inspekt.ID communicates directly with a document's chip to confirm its data hasn't been tampered with, and, where supported, that the chip itself is genuine rather than a clone. No server, no cloud upload — every scan happens entirely on your device. HOW IT WORKS 1. Unlock the document by scanning the printed Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) with your camera, or entering the Card Access Number (CAN) manually. 2. Hold your iPhone near the document to read the chip over NFC. KEY FEATURES - NFC chip reading for ePassports and electronic ID cards (ICAO 9303 standard) - Passive Authentication to detect altered or forged chip data - Chip/Active Authentication to detect cloned chips, where supported by the document - Detailed data viewer covering personal data, document details, and security certificates, with both summary and technical views - Local scan history, with the option to export results or delete them at any time PRIVACY FIRST All document reading, verification, and chip communication happens entirely on your device. Document data is never sent to any server. Inspekt.ID sends only anonymous, non-identifying usage analytics (such as document type and scan duration) to help us improve reliability — never a name, date of birth, document number, or photo. Whether you're a traveler curious about a passport's chip, a security-minded individual double-checking a document, or simply exploring how modern ID verification works, Inspekt.ID gives you a transparent, private look under the hood.
