About this app

Your weather app says 87 degrees. The asphalt your dog is standing on is 125. That gap is why we built Pawcast. Air temperature was never meant to describe a walk. It doesn't know your dog has a double coat, or that she's eleven now, or that the parking lot between your door and the park holds heat long after the sun moves off it. DOG FEEL° Your dog's own number. Dog Feel° takes the hourly forecast and adjusts it for breed, coat, size, age, weight, and health history. Same afternoon, same sidewalk: a Husky and a French Bulldog get different readings, because they're having different afternoons. WALK WINDOWS The day laid out hour by hour with your dog's range marked on it. Below range, within range, above range. You can see the cool stretch at 7am and the hours worth skipping without doing math in your head. GROUND TEMPERATURE This is the part that surprises people. Pawcast estimates asphalt, concrete, and grass separately, in sun and in shade. On the same block, at the same minute, those readings can sit dozens of degrees apart. We built this from field measurements taken with an infrared thermometer across surfaces and seasons, not from a formula we found somewhere. RAIN, STORMS, AND WHAT'S COMING Hourly precipitation and thunder outlooks, read for what they mean to your dog rather than to your commute. A storm-anxious dog and a dog who sleeps through it are two different planning problems. ALERTS YOU ACTUALLY WANT You hear about it while you can still move the walk. When heat, cold, pavement, or a storm starts drifting toward the edge of your dog's range, Pawcast tells you early. Tune what comes through and when, so the only notifications you get are ones you would have asked for. EVERY DOG, EVERY PLACE Breed, age, weight, coat, and anything else that changes how they handle weather. Add as many dogs as you have. Check conditions at home, at the trailhead, or wherever you are headed next. VETERINARY-BACKED Our Chief Veterinary Officer is a licensed DVM who trained at Tufts and spent years in emergency practice. Every threshold and every number in this app goes through her before it reaches you. A pug and a husky are not having the same August. Neither is an eleven year old anything. Pawcast starts there. Pawcast is an informational tool. It does not diagnose, treat, or replace veterinary care. If your dog is in distress, call your vet. weather.pet

Momentum comes from crawler snapshots for the tracked storefront. “Viral growth signal” means unusually fast recent rating gains; it is an indicator, not download data.
