Narayaṇeeyam is a highly revered Sanskrit devotional masterpiece composed by Melpathur Narayana Bhattatiri in the 16th century. It is a condensed poetic rendering of the Bhāgavata Purāṇa, summarizing its essence into 100 beautifully structured Daśakams (cantos). More than just a literary work, Narayaṇeeyam is a heartfelt prayer to Lord Guruvayurappan (Krishna), embodying deep bhakti (devotion), philosophical insights, and rich poetic beauty. It is said that Bhattatiri composed it while suffering from paralysis and regained full health upon completing it, making the text a symbol of divine grace and healing power. Chanting or listening to Narayaṇeeyam is believed to bring immense spiritual and physical benefits. Devotees report experiencing peace of mind, improved health, and emotional strength. The text is often recited for relief from diseases (ārogya prāpti), removal of obstacles, and attaining moksha (liberation). Many believe that sincere recitation with devotion purifies the mind and leads to spiritual upliftment.
