Stoma Steps is designed to assist you in preparing for and adjusting to life with your stoma. It is like having a knowledgeable friend by your side, helping to support and guide you through the early part of your ostomy journey, giving you bite size information, encouragement and advice as you need it. It’s normal to feel overwhelmed at the beginning, you might be struggling with feelings of stress or anxiety. Stoma steps will help you find your ‘new normal’ and to live well after ostomy surgery. Being well informed on what to expect at each stage of your journey will help you to make any necessary adjustments and progress confidently with your recovery. This is where Stoma Steps will help, guiding you through the weeks to come at a pace that is comfortable for you and providing information as you want it. Adjusting to life with a stoma can be a scary time and you may feel like you need more support and guidance than ever. Stoma Steps is here to help you on your journey, taking care of everything from preparing for your stoma to adjusting to life with a stoma. Stoma Steps can also help if you have a loved one going through or recovering from recent stoma surgery. Stoma Steps provides articles relevant to your journey stage as well as hints and tips on how to manage your stoma that will help you move forward after ostomy surgery and realise that most of what you are feeling, and experiencing is quite normal. It includes tools to enable you to video a pouch change with your nurse that you can always refer back to and record practical notes such as fluid intake, sleep patterns and very importantly, how you are feeling. You will be able to track your entire recovery journey to see just how far you have come and appreciate the great progress you have made. Alongside the Stoma Steps app, you will also be able to access the community at ‘a bigger life’ to chat in a safe place with other ostomates who have been through a similar experience, helping you get the information and support you need to adjust to your new life.
