About this app
This app was developed to help collect pre- and post- 24-hour dietary recalls that are required as part of EFNEP’s evaluation processes. Along with the dietary recall, the Getting to Know You survey and the 30-question Adult evaluation are also collected. Food tracker functions provide an overview of daily nutritional values. In addition to English, this App also supports data collection in multiple languages, including Spanish, Karen (Burmese), Hmong, and Somali. It also supports data collection in low-literacy audiences by using audio and visual cues to help capture foods eaten. This App will have sync functionality to directly upload participant food recall into WebNeers (future).

What’s New
This release introduces significant accessibility enhancements to improve usability for all users, including those using assistive technologies such as VoiceOver. Visual Accessibility Error states no longer rely on color alone. Fields now include icons and descriptive messages, which are also announced by VoiceOver. Selected items now include a checkmark indicator and audible “Selected/Not selected” feedback. All text supports dynamic type and scales with user accessibility settings without truncation. VoiceOver Support Key interactive elements (buttons, pickers, answer choices) now include proper labels, roles, and behaviors. Custom controls are fully accessible, including reliable double-tap activation. Dropdowns and pickers are now recognized and operable as buttons. Audio-enabled items expose accessible actions so users can play audio without losing navigation context. Complex list items are now read as a single, meaningful unit instead of fragmented elements. Navigation and Structure Screen titles are now identified as headings, enabling faster navigation. Answer picker flow is improved: logical reading order, “Done” button moved to the bottom, and focus returns correctly after closing. Automatic navigation is disabled when VoiceOver is active to maintain user control. System Feedback Loading states now provide clear visual and spoken feedback (e.g., “Loading, please wait”). VoiceOver focus is properly managed during loading and returns to the correct element afterward. Language and Localization Accessibility labels and messages are now available in all supported languages (English, Spanish, Hmong, Karen). VoiceOver announcements are tagged with the correct language for proper pronunciation. These updates ensure the app meets WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards and significantly improve accessibility for users with visual, cognitive, and language needs.
