About this app

Voice To Text converts speech into text you can edit, search, and export. Record a meeting, drop in a file you already have, or dictate into whatever app you are using. All of it runs on your own device. There is no account to create, and nothing is uploaded anywhere. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT Everything happens locally. The speech engines run on your Mac, iPhone, or iPad, so your recordings stay where you made them. It also means the app keeps working with no signal at all. It is quick as well. A one hour recording is done well before you could have listened through it once. You are also not pushed into a subscription. There is a free tier for daily use, and if you want everything unlocked you can buy it once. RECORDING Record meetings, lectures, interviews, and voice notes. You get a live waveform while you speak, and on newer systems the text appears as you go, so you can tell it is picking you up correctly. IMPORTING FILES Bring in audio and video you already have: m4a, mp3, wav, aiff, caf, mp4, mov and others. On Mac you drag the file onto the window, on iPhone and iPad you pick it from Files. Old interviews, recorded calls and lecture captures all work. DICTATION ON MAC Press Control-Option-D in any app, say what you want, press it again. The text is inserted where your cursor already was. It works in Mail, Notes, Pages, Slack, browsers, and code editors, because it does not care which app is in front. SPEAKER LABELS Speaker ID marks who said what, which turns a two person interview into something you can actually read. Give each speaker a real name once and it is used everywhere after that, exports included. FINDING THINGS AGAIN Every transcript goes into a searchable library. Search runs across the full text, so a half remembered phrase from a meeting last month is enough to find it. Tap any timestamp to jump to that moment in the audio and hear it in context. EXPORT Plain text and Markdown for notes and documents. SRT and WebVTT for subtitling video, with timestamps that line up properly in an editor. JSON if you want to feed the segments into something else. Or copy the whole transcript with one tap. LANGUAGES English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Polish, Czech, Ukrainian, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Greek, Turkish, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and many others, up to 99 depending on which engine you choose. ENGINES • System is built into the operating system. Nothing to download, starts instantly, and handles everyday recordings well. • Turbo is our fastest option and is tuned for Apple silicon. Use it for long recordings across 25 languages. • Universal covers the widest range of languages, up to 99, for anything the other two miss. • Speaker ID adds who-said-what labelling to any of them. You download an engine once, and it then runs offline. Remove any you stop using. FREE AND PRO The free version gives you 5 minutes of transcription a day on the built in System engine. No ads, no watermark on your text. Pro removes the daily limit and adds the Turbo and Universal engines, Speaker ID and subtitle export. It is available monthly, yearly with a free trial, or as a single lifetime purchase. Subscription Terms: Payment charged to iTunes Account. Auto-renews unless disabled 24 hours before period ends. Manage in Account Settings. https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/ No account, no analytics, no audio leaving your device.
