About this app
The Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) is a heat index that provides a more complete picture of the heat stress on the human body than a standard air temperature measurement. The WBGT is often used to better assess the risks of working or exercising in warm environments. The index combines four key environmental factors that determine how the body experiences and can dissipate heat: temperature, humidity, wind speed, and solar radiation. Note that the outcome can never replace a calibrated WBGT thermometer since the app can't take actual environmental deviations and local microclimate effects such as terrain, obstacles, ground reflection (albedo), infrared radiation, wind blocks or cloud cover variability into account.
