weirdfriends: learn languages

About this app

Language learning, but make it weird. weirdfriends is a casual language app where you learn by texting AI characters — ones you build yourself, or quirky hand-picked friends you match with. Want to text a melodramatic microwave? A hamster who won't stop talking about carrots? A chaotic chef who only speaks Spanish? Go for it. Every conversation is a real lesson that never feels like one. CREATE YOUR OWN CHARACTER Design an AI friend with their own name, personality, and voice — then start texting. Or match with our cast of weird originals if you'd rather just jump in. DROP INTO SCENES Pick a scenario and play it out together: you won the lottery, a cooking disaster, you swapped bodies. Scenes give you something to react to, so you're never staring at a blank chat wondering what to say. CORRECTIONS THAT ACTUALLY TEACH Make a mistake and your friend gently fixes it — then explains WHY, in plain language. Tap any message for an instant translation. It's the messy, colloquial practice that textbooks and streak apps skip. THEY TEXT YOU FIRST Turn on notifications and your characters slide into your DMs throughout the day, so practice fits into your life instead of becoming another chore you forget. MEETS YOU AT YOUR LEVEL From your very first words (A1) to fluent (C2), conversations adapt to your skill so you're always a little challenged, never lost. 24+ LANGUAGES Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Swedish, Norwegian, Danish, Romanian, Polish, Greek, Ukrainian, Russian, Turkish, Hindi, Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay & English. PRIVATE Every conversation is just you and your friends. WHAT YOU GET — Build your own AI characters, or match with weird originals — Play out absurd scenes with any character — Mistakes corrected and explained as you chat — Tap any message for an instant translation — Get texted throughout the day for bite-sized practice (optional) — Adapts from beginner (A1) to fluent (C2) — 24+ languages — Fully private conversations Think of it as the thing streak apps and flashcards don't do: real, funny, colloquial conversation with friends who happen to live in another language. 24+ languages. Infinite weird. Zero judgment.

- Exciting stuff! Now the keyboard will be to the language you are learning automatically. - Also some bug fixes with translations + multiline inputs

Momentum comes from crawler snapshots for the tracked storefront. “Viral growth signal” means unusually fast recent rating gains; it is an indicator, not download data.
