What’s New
The sun does not set at a time. It sets behind something. YOUR HORIZON — new - The real skyline of your place, with the sun's own path drawn across it. When the sun actually goes behind the ridge, how much earlier that is than the almanac says, and what it costs you in daylight. - For 423 cities the skyline travels inside the app: no network, nothing to switch on, works in flight mode. - For a place you add yourself it is worked out — you are asked once, and saying no costs you nothing else. SUN AND SHADOW — new - Your shadow on satellite imagery, to scale, in real metres. Set the height and watch how far it reaches. - The pale fan is the ground the sun reaches at all today. Everything outside it is in shade from dawn to dusk. YOUR SUN YEAR — new - How many minutes of direct sun each day of the year actually brings — not the almanac's day length, but what the mountain leaves you. - In a valley it names the two dates people wait for: when the sun leaves, and when it comes back. THE BEST EVENING THIS WEEK — new - Seven evenings compared rather than one predicted. High cloud catches the last light, low cloud hides it, a ridge in the west cuts it short. SUN ALONG YOUR LINE — new - The two days a year the setting sun lines up with your street, your terrace or your wall. Switch on the compass and point the device. PRAYER REMINDERS — new - Each of the five prayers on its own, with its own sound and an optional warning beforehand. - Add your own audio file: your muezzin, your tradition, your recording. ALSO - Cloud cover in three layers across the day — high, middle and low, because those are three different skies - New crescent: the next sighting from where you are, with the cloud at the best minute - Share the day: a picture with your own skyline on it - The city page is now grouped into four sections, and every card can be switched on or off - Fixed: a fault in iCloud sync could delete places added on the other device. If you use an iPhone and an iPad, update both.
