Your phone is where the photos and videos live. The TV is where everyone can actually see them. Smart TV Cast sends them straight across your Wi-Fi — no cable, no account, no upload to anyone's server. SEND WHAT IS ALREADY ON YOUR PHONE Photos, videos and music from your library play on the TV in a tap. The file streams directly from your phone over your own network. Nothing is copied to the cloud first, and nothing leaves your home. BROWSE YOUR NAS AND HOME SERVER If you keep media on a NAS or any DLNA/UPnP media server, the app finds it on your network and lets you browse it folder by folder — then cast straight from there. Synology, QNAP, Plex's DLNA endpoint, a router's USB share: if it speaks DLNA, it shows up. WORKS WITH THE TV YOU ALREADY OWN Built on ConnectSDK, so it talks to the protocols TVs actually ship with: DLNA, Google Cast, DIAL, LG webOS and Netcast, Sony Android TV, Roku and AirPlay. Most smart TVs made in the last decade need nothing installed on the TV side. WATCH VIDEOS FROM THE WEB A built-in browser opens video sites on your phone and hands the stream to the TV, so the phone is the remote rather than the screen. DRAW ON THE BIG SCREEN Sketch on your phone and it appears live on the TV. Useful for explaining something to a room, or for keeping a child busy with a canvas bigger than a tablet. A PROPER NOW PLAYING SCREEN Play, pause, stop, skip fifteen seconds either way, scrub the timeline and set the volume — from the phone, without getting up. Playback keeps going while you browse for what is next. PRIVATE BY DESIGN No account. No sign-up. No analytics profile. This release is mostly repair work, and quite a lot of it. FIXED: playlists skipped tracks Every now-playing screen the app had ever shown was still listening to the TV, and each one advanced the playlist at the end of a track. The longer a session ran, the more tracks it jumped. They are cleaned up properly now. FIXED: the media browser said only "Failed to load" When a media server refused a request, the app threw away the reason. It now tells you what happened — including when the server is refusing because this device is not on its allowed list, which no amount of retrying would have fixed. FIXED: casting could fail silently If a TV rejected a file, the app still showed a now-playing bar for something that was never playing. It now says so. FIXED: transport controls Two of the four buttons on the now-playing screen were invisible, and the middle one never changed between play and pause. NEW: pull to refresh in the media browser. Also: a rebuilt home screen that fits on one screen and scales with your text size, a rebuilt TV picker, a redrawn icon set, and the app is now called Smart TV Cast.
