About this app
Track your cottage food sales against your state's revenue cap — and know exactly when you'll hit it. Kitchen Ledger is the back-office tool for home bakers, jam makers and farmers market vendors running a real business without going over the legal limit. REAL-TIME CAP HEALTH Most cottage food operators have no idea how close they are to their state's annual cap. Log your sales and a gauge fills in real time, projecting when you'll hit it at your current pace — "At your current pace, you'll hit your cap on September 14." Slow down, raise prices, or push through with eyes open. ALL 50 STATES AND DC Every state's law is different. Kitchen Ledger knows: • Your annual revenue cap (or "no cap" for food freedom states) • What you're allowed to sell — and what you're not • Which sales channels are allowed (in-person, farmers market, online) • Whether you need a permit • The label disclaimer your state requires Every entry shows when we last checked it and links to your state's agency, so you can judge how current it is rather than taking our word for it. INVOICES, DEPOSITS AND BALANCES Take a deposit to hold a date, track the balance, and send a branded invoice or receipt as a PDF. We don't process payments and don't take a percentage — you get paid however you already do. COMPLIANT LABELS IN 30 SECONDS Add a recipe. Kitchen Ledger pulls the allergens from your ingredients, sorts them by weight (per FDA), and adds your state's required disclaimer. Generate an Avery 5163 sticker PDF. Share or print. SCHEDULE C READY WHEN APRIL ROLLS AROUND Kitchen Ledger keeps a clean ledger all year — gross receipts, expenses by category, mileage at the IRS standard rate — and exports a Schedule C-ready CSV in one tap. Plus quarterly estimated tax projections, and reminders a week before each deadline. PRIVATE AI THAT NEVER LEAVES YOUR PHONE Paste a customer's text or DM and Kitchen Ledger reads the order out of it — customer, items, quantities, date — filling prices from your own recipe list. All of it happens on your device. Nothing is uploaded, because there is nowhere for it to go. YOUR DATA IS YOURS Export everything to one file and restore it on a new phone. Free for everyone — charging you to not lose your own records would be indefensible. FREE TIER WITH REAL VALUE No lock-out. Kitchen Ledger Free gives you the whole app: • 5 orders per month • 3 recipes with cost and margin calculator • 5 labels per month (with a small watermark) • 3 invoices per month • Your state's complete compliance reference • Full data backup and restore KITCHEN LEDGER PRO Unlocks: • Unlimited orders, recipes, labels and invoices (no watermark) • Every state, not just yours — for anyone selling across a state line • Schedule C tax export • Cap projection alerts at thresholds you choose • Profit and margin analytics by product, channel, and market • Weekly digest and per-market sales reports PRIVACY-FIRST. NO ADS. NO TRACKING. Everything stays on your device. No account, no sign-up, no cloud sync. We don't see your data, your customers, or your sales. What’s New
Version 2.0 is a rebuild of everything underneath. ALL 50 STATES, PLUS DC Every state and the District of Columbia now have a compliance entry — cap, permit rules, allowed foods, sales channels, and label requirements. Each one shows when we last checked it and links to the agency, so you can see how current our information is instead of trusting it blindly. Michigan, Georgia and Virginia all changed their laws in the last year and our old data had them wrong. They are corrected. INVOICES, DEPOSITS AND BALANCES Take a deposit to hold a date, track what's still owed, and send a branded invoice or receipt as a PDF. No storefront, no payment processing, no percentage of your sale — just the paperwork. TODAY VIEW Your home screen now opens with what actually needs doing: today's pickups, overdue balances, and what you're owed in total. PASTE AN ORDER Paste a customer's text or DM and Kitchen Ledger reads the order out of it — customer, items, quantities, date — matching prices against your own recipe list. This happens entirely on your iPhone. The message is never sent anywhere. BACKUP YOUR DATA Export everything to a single file and restore it on a new phone. Free for everyone, because charging you to not lose your own records would be indefensible. REMINDERS THAT ARRIVE IN TIME Pickup reminders the day before, a Monday morning summary of your week, and quarterly estimated-tax reminders a week ahead of the deadline rather than on the day. ALSO FIXED • Prices with cents are typeable again — "$12.50" used to be impossible • Subscriptions now survive closing the app • Dark mode works when set to follow your system • Dates save on your local day, not UTC — evening orders were being dated tomorrow, which put New Year's Eve sales in the wrong tax year • The cap gauge and the Schedule C export now agree with each other
