About this app
TimeGrain is a time log for your day. Line up today's tasks on one timeline, give each an estimated duration, then tap once to start the timer and once more to record what it actually took. The Today screen always shows your projected finish: at this pace, when does today actually end? If it slips past the bedtime you set, the banner turns into a warning. WHAT IT'S FOR Most people aren't lazy — they just have no feel for time. The email you thought would take half an hour took an hour. The night you meant to end at ten ended at midnight. TimeGrain doesn't nag you, score you or rank you. It just puts what you thought next to what actually happened. Do that often enough and the feel grows on its own. · Routines: every day, chosen weekdays, or every N days — your daily list builds itself · One-tap timing: tap to start, tap to finish; the stopwatch survives app restarts · Live Activity: the running task sits on your Lock Screen and Dynamic Island — glance and stop right there · Home Screen widget: projected finish plus your next tasks, with a Start button that begins timing without opening the app · Shortcuts: start a task, stop the timer, or jot a note — wire them to Siri, Back Tap or NFC · Estimate vs. actual: instant comparison on every finished task, red when over and green when under; long-press to fix a forgotten timer · Jot it down: notes and photos (shoot on the spot) merge with your records into one full timeline of the day · Review charts: 24-hour timeline, category share, daily totals, and an estimate-accuracy trend · Two-way calendar sync: finished records land in a local "TimeGrain" calendar, and today's events from the calendars you pick flow onto your list · Median reference: apply the median of your last 10 actuals as the new estimate in one tap ABOUT PERMISSIONS Calendar access is used for exactly two things, both of which you switch on yourself in Settings: writing finished records into a local "TimeGrain" calendar as "[Category] Task", and reading today's events from the calendars you tick into your list so the projected finish accounts for them (timing one never edits the original event). Camera access is used only when you tap the camera button inside a note. Leave both off and the core of the app works exactly the same. PRIVACY Your tasks, records, notes and photos live only on this device. Nothing is uploaded and there is no account. The one thing that needs the network is the banner at the bottom of the screen. TimeGrain does not track you across apps and never shows a tracking permission prompt. Everything is usable; nothing is gated. There is one banner at the bottom, and if it gets in your way you can remove it with a one-time purchase. Removing it unlocks nothing, because nothing was locked.
