About this app
Wood Stove Care fixes what goes wrong with a stove and flue, tracks when the chimney needs a sweep, and now predicts when this year's wood will actually be ready to burn. READY BY: A DATE, NOT JUST A RULE OF THUMB Tell it when you cut or split the wood, the species, the split size and your climate, and get an estimated ready-by window. Oak split standard in a dry climate needs eighteen to twenty-four months; the same log quartered small can be ready months sooner. Splitting roughly halves the wait over an unsplit round. FIVE PROBLEMS, RANKED BY LIKELY CAUSE Smoke in the room, a fire that won't take, black glass, tarred flue, summer smells each with the causes worth checking, in the order worth checking them. COUNT THE FIRES, NOT THE CALENDAR Log every burn and see fires since the last sweep, with a plain warning when it is time to book one. Creosote builds with use, not with the date on the wall. IS IT DRY? TELL WITHOUT A METER Five signs of properly seasoned wood, and what each moisture band actually means for how it burns. WORKS OFFLINE No account, no signal. Seasoning times are general published ranges cross-checked across several sources, not a measurement of your specific woodpile. Have your chimney inspected at least annually by a qualified sweep.
